Global Communities is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Associate to join its Strategic Partnerships department at the Headquarters in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.


The Strategic Partnerships Associate supports the overall partnership development process and provides general support to the team.  Specific duties include:


Proposal Administration:

  • Support due diligence and partnership opportunity analysis process.
  • Draft concept papers, Expressions of Interests (EOIs) and small proposals.
  • Review and maintain all administrative proposal documents, and assist in ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Research and assemble technical and cost proposal components and ensures that proposals are submitted accordingly.
  • Liaise with partner organizations to ensure proper documentation is gathered and needs are addressed.

Partner Cultivation Support:

  • Support the identification of prospective partners through research and analysis of capacity to partner.
  • Participate in Strategic Partnerships team meetings which can include; partnership strategy meetings, country strategy meetings, technical strategy meetings, and meetings with prospective partners
  • Support the identification and preparation of pursuit of new business opportunities. 
  • Maintains communication with Global Communities field offices regarding partnership opportunities.

General Support

  • Support the development of communication materials including capacity statements, program information and fact sheets, and presentations.
  • Process Consultant Agreements and amendments.
  • Process departmental invoices and reimbursement reports for staff and consultants. Ensures all approvals are collected. 
  • Coordinate meeting logistics in coordination with the Executive Assistant to VP of Strategic Partnerships. 
  • Function as the liaison with IT to maintain the department’s document management systems including SharePoint and Salesforce.  Update SharePoint with relevant material; and makes edits and updates to Salesforce tools.
  • Undertake all other duties and projects as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Good analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to interact with all levels of staff in a professional manner.
  • Works well under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage deadlines and to work independently. Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task in fast paced environment.
  • Fluency in English, written and oral. Abilities in a second language preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based environment including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Able and willing to travel internationally.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and ability to sit at a computer and operate a keyboard.


  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience supporting business development and/or partnership development experience. 
  • Experience writing proposals and/or grants, preferably in an international non-profit organization.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have valid U.S. work Authorization.
