Global Communities is seeking a Technical Director of WASH and Health to join its Governance and Global Health technical area at the headquarters in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.
Global Communities has implemented community-based development programs for more than 60 years, including programs designed to mitigate and address challenges compromising public health outcomes. With public health and WASH-related programming in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin and South America, Global Communities uses a mix of approaches and strategies to support communities and local and national governments to improve access, availability, quality and utilization of critical public health services and infrastructure.
Current programs are focused on: rural and urban water supply and sanitation infrastructure; adapting and applying best practice behavior change approaches to WASH and health interventions; infectious disease prevention, surveillance and response; watershed management and conservation; vector control; and, supporting households affected by HIV/AIDS with multi-sectoral interventions through OVC and Dreams programming.
We seek an experienced Technical Director with the background and capacity to develop and oversee programs aligned with our diverse public health and WASH portfolio. The Technical Director will work closely with the Senior Director and Portfolio Growth Managers to develop and execute a strategy that leverages Global Communities’ expertise and positions the organization to continue to implement high quality programming designed to improve public health outcomes. The Technical Director will supervise HQ and field-based staff, providing technical leadership and actively mentoring and supporting the professional development of his/her staff. Further, the Technical Director will represent Global Communities externally, expanding the organization’s visibility and participation in the WASH and Health sectors.
