Global Communities is seeking a temporary COVID-19 Outreach Specialist to join the COVID-19 team at the headquarters in San Diego, CA. 

 

Global Communities (GC) is seeking energetic, dedicated health/social service professionals to conduct COVID-19 education and outreach work across San Diego County. Under the direction of the Program Director and Senior Program Manager, the part-time COVID-19 Outreach Specialist will conduct a range of COVID-19 education activities, including vaccine and testing education and outreach. The COVID-19 Response Program collaborates with the County of San Diego HHSA and other donors to provide residents with wraparound COVID-19 prevention services.

 

Please note:  This is a temporary position working up to 30 hours per week through December 31, 2021.  

Responsibilities

Vaccine Education and Outreach

  • Conduct vaccine outreach/education activities throughout San Diego County
  • Conduct vaccine appointment enrollment for SD residents
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and members
  • Call and follow up with clients during their vaccination journey
  • Engage with community members to discuss benefits of COVID-19 vaccination and respond to vaccine & COVID-related questions/concerns
  • Conduct group presentations discussing the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination
  • Document all activities using Global Communities and San Diego County reporting platforms
  • Identify and development collaboration with key community stakeholders, organizations, and businesses
    Promote program information
  • Create and/or translate COVID-19 educational content & materials
  • Participate in team meetings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to speak, read & write English fluently
  • Able to communicate well at all levels of the organization including working with organization leadership and high-level representatives of partner organizations
  • Knowledge of the needs, problems and attitudes of the target population and awareness of the community environment and of health care organizations in San Diego
  • Able to work independently with self-direction and as a team player
  • Ability to show empathy to clients during times of stress
  • Fluency in English and another language
  • Familiarity with patient confidentiality standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, cultural sensitivity and interviewing skills to build and maintain trust with community members
  • The ability to grasp medical/epidemiological terms
  • Computer experience and demonstrated ability to work in MS Excel

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent at minimum
  • Working knowledge of their work discipline and 2 years prior work experience
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel around San Diego County
  • Must have reliable internet connection and quiet place to work
  • Able to speak, read & write English fluently
  • Ability to show empathy to clients during times of stress
  • Familiarity with patient confidentiality standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, cultural sensitivity and interviewing skills to build and maintain trust with community members
  • The ability to grasp medical/epidemiological terms
  • Computer experience and demonstrated ability to work in MS Excel
