Global Communities is seeking a Associate to join the Strategic Growth & Partnership team at the headquarters in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland or San Diego, CA. 

 

The Associate, Strategic Growth & Partnership serves as the principal support for the Vice President, Strategic Growth & Partnership. This role supports to the Strategic Growth & Partnership team by helping to maximize the efficiency of SGP team efforts and facilitate effective coordination between SGP and other Sustainable Development units. This role requires passion for international development, resourcefulness, skills as a self-starter, detail orientation, analytical thinking, and proactive synthesizing of information.

Provides appropriate coordination on projects and tasks requiring research and interactions with Global Communities staff, donors and/or consultants. Supports strategy initiatives, including meeting preparations and follow-up activities, research, reports, correspondence, and other requested items. This role requires professional and effective communication skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing requests.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibility Area: Resource Mobilization Support

  • Supports with scheduling, coordinating, taking/distributing meetings notes and serves as active participant in Strategic Partnerships team meetings which can include partnership strategy meetings, country strategy meetings, technical strategy meetings, and meetings with prospective partners.
  • Support the drafting, formatting, and editing of proposal content and attachments.
  • Supports the development of communication materials including capacity statements, program information and fact sheets, and presentations.
  • Support SGP efforts to gather information about potential donors or partners, research new funding opportunities and target prospects, analyze grant/funding application guidelines and summarize analysis for dissemination

Responsibility Area: Information Management and Systems

  • Support the maintenance of all SGP-relevant information systems and reports to inform strategic decision-making (i.e. PURSUIT Module / Salesforce); cultivation of key relationships (Donor Relationship Module, Talent Database); and strategic tracking of new business development information (i.e. Capacity Materials, Proposal Documents) and other databases as needed.
  • Proactively strategize on and streamline improved utilization of the SGP information systems within the SGP and across other relevant units/departments within Sustainable Development
  • Assist with data entry and retrieval into/from key information tracking systems and databases, and supporting the design and creation of relevant reports
  • Functions as the liaison with IT and other departments to maintain the SGP’s document management systems including Salesforce and SharePoint.
  • Support the management of Salesforce and other data management systems and processes, assisting with data entry, analysis and report generation
  • Supports regular SGP reporting.

Responsibility Area: General Administrative Support

  • Supports development of SGP tools and orientation materials/trainings
  • Manages travel requests and expense reports as needed through Concur
  • Provides logistical support for meetings and trainings
  • Supports regular meetings (e.g. scheduling, sending out invitations, setting up meetings, ordering food and taking notes, etc.)
  • Processes procurements

POSITION SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel throughout domestic region approximately 10% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or a minimum of four years of related work experience.
  • Experience in new business development.
  • Demonstrated ability to be entrepreneurial in handling multiple tasks and projects and meeting established goals with specific time frames.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to research ideas and compose clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive pitches/concepts for presentation to donors.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exemplary time management and multi-tasking skills necessary to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to work with a diverse constituency of donors/partners.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in partnership with staff and volunteers.
  • Self-starting skills, creativity, and the ability to express ideas, recognize opportunities, and communicate goals and objectives clearly
  • Strong computer and research skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows-based environment including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Fluency in English, written and oral. Abilities in another language preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and grants management principles.
  • National non-profit fundraising experience a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout domestic region approximately 10% of the time.
  • A passion for the mission and values of Global Communities.
  • Must have U.S. work authorization.
