The intern will be responsible for assisting the Digital Communications team in creating a visual representation of the work Global Communities performs across the world and performing dedicated assignments and support with ongoing tasks.Projects may include designing internal or external content to promote Global Communities’ brand or programs through video products for social media, the website, or ongoing campaigns, as well as contributions to larger ongoing projects such as categorizing videos and b-roll within the organization’s Digital Asset Management system. The intern will be expected to coordinate remotely through regular video conference check-ins, and to receive and promptly complete projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

Responsibility Area: Project Support & Execution

  • Complete video or motion graphic design projects as assigned by Sr. Manager, Visual Communications using industry standard tools, software, and materials such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Canva, Microsoft Office or others. Work closely with creative staff to execute concepts through to completion.
  • Video production, including supporting script writing and storyboarding, camera, lighting, and audio skills (if local and applicable), and processing video transcripts.
  • Video editing, including basic audio editing, color correcting and captioning.
  • Motion graphics editing, including using templates, creating visual and typographic effects.
  • Creative planning and producing of Instagram Reels and other social media-specific video products.
  • Analyze successes and opportunities for growth in video production and dissemination of video through social media.
  • Monitor and follow video trends on social media, provide suggestions and support the execution of relevant trends.
  • Animation skills a plus.

Responsibility Area: Operational Support

  • Provide ongoing operational support to department and digital team. This could include file organization, classifying visual communications assets, managing Digital Asset Management systems, or other necessary work for the smooth functioning of the department and success of video or motion products.

Qualifications

  • Requires basic knowledge of their work discipline and no prior work experience.
  • Skills required include classroom or real-world experience with the principles of video and/or motion graphic production and editing, and visual communications; experience with design tools and software; ability to create and replicate video products; interest in developing new skills in visual communication.

Location and Work Schedule 

This selected candidate can be based in either Silver Spring or San Diego, CA. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without restriction. This role is on a hybrid/telework schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work at least twice as week (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) from either our San Diego or Silver Spring office and the remainder of the week from an approved remote location.

 

Salary and Compensation

The hourly rate for this internship is 17.00 per hour.
