The Senior Manager, Humanitarian Assistance Business Development leads the overall revenue generation strategy and pipeline development for assigned country portfolios and emergency response operations. The Senior Manager also leads all Business Development efforts for high priority, complex opportunities and will be a leading voice on designing winning strategies to resource the important work that Global Communities does. The role provides leadership to the business development process and rallies key stakeholders such as technical advisors, finance, grants and contracts and program operations peers to ensure a robust and thorough grant application is submitted in compliance with organizational and donor policies or requirements.
This role is responsible for supporting a funding opportunity through identifying/qualifying (tracking/positioning), cultivating (capture), and live pursuit phases culminating in preparation and submission of a high-quality funding application. The Senior Manager ensures oversight of the entire proposal process and package, and the transition from proposal to project implementation.
Activities supporting the development of opportunities include but are not limited to proposal management, proposal writing, desk research, identifying/securing partners, business intelligence (gathering, analysis and reporting), managing/analyzing solicitation pipeline current year and historical data, and strategic networking and relationship building. When not working on live funding opportunities, the role leads or supports broader team initiatives such as process improvements, donor trend analysis, external engagement, lessons learned, mentoring and coaching field staff and peer Global Support Team (HQ) staff, professional development and surge support to other team members.
The role is to be based in the Bethesda, Maryland (Washington, DC area) with periodic short-term travel to GC countries for assigned BD tasks.

1. Works with HA team to manage new business development and implementation.
2. Plans, participates in, or supports field assessments following rapid onset emergencies and in response to ongoing emergencies.

4. Works closely with the Budget and Pricing unit on cost allocation and pricing strategies and provides input for accurate budget development.

5. Builds relationships with representatives of potential donors, clients and strategic partners to enhance Global Communities’ capabilities and to expand programming.

Location and Work Schedule
This selected candidate can be based in Bethesda, MD. Candidates must be authorized to work in their preferred country without any restriction.
This role is on a hybrid/telework schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work at least twice as week (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) from Bethesda office and the remainder of the week from an approved remote location.
Salary and Compensation
The estimated salary for this position is between $95,805 to $119,756. Final salary will be based on several factors including qualifications, geographic location, experience, and internal equity. Global Communities provides a comprehensive benefits package; please note that this position is not eligible for allowances.
