POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Financial Analyst/Accountant provides advanced analytical, reporting, and revenue management support across Global Communities’ global operations. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the organization’s financial reporting and revenue recognition processes.

 

Working collaboratively with Finance leadership, Accounting, and program teams, the incumbent leads the preparation of donor financial reports, manages the setup and maintenance of awards in NetSuite, and ensures alignment with donor terms, organizational policies, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Financial Analyst/Accountant also supports process improvement initiatives and contributes to strategic financial planning by providing accurate analysis, forecasts, and recommendations that strengthen financial decision-making across the organization.

 

Responsibilities

 

Financial Reporting and Revenue Recognition

  • Lead the preparation, review, and analysis of donor financial reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with donor agreements and organizational standards.
  • Oversee monthly revenue recognition processes across all award types, preparing and recording journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain restricted revenue schedules and reconcile them monthly with the general ledger to support transparent and compliant financial reporting.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of quarterly SF-425 reports and other required donor filings.
  • Manage the processing and tracking of all funding requests from donors, including transactions within the Payment Management System (PMS) and other relevant platforms.

Award Management and System Oversight

  • Review new and modified donor agreements, establish awards in NetSuite (NS), and maintain accurate and up-to-date award records.
  • Ensure all project data—including life-of-award amounts, budgets, start and end dates, and reporting requirements—are properly reflected in NS.
  • Review and consolidate subaward information quarterly, ensuring timely and accurate data for reporting and compliance.
  • Partner with field and program teams to verify the accuracy of financial data used in donor reporting and audits.

 

Audit Preparation and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with USAID and other donor regulations, including 2 CFR 200, and organizational policies governing financial reporting, cost allocation, and cost share.
  • Oversee and maintain cost-share tracking and reporting to ensure compliance with donor and audit requirements.
  • Proactively identify financial reporting risks or irregularities, communicate findings to leadership, and recommend corrective actions.

 

Financial Analysis and Process Improvement

  • Assist in preparing the NICRA proposals for the subsidiaries of Global Communities.
  • Prepare the quarterly DFI Financial Consolidation and Analysis reports, analyzing financial performance and identifying key insights for management decision-making.
  • Conduct variance analyses, trend evaluations, and scenario modeling to support financial planning and organizational forecasting.
  • Recommend improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance data accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Program, and Field teams to strengthen financial processes and ensure consistent application of internal controls across all offices.

 

Capacity Building and Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance to field finance personnel to build capacity in reporting, revenue recognition, and audit readiness.
  • Support cross-functional teams by responding to finance-related inquiries and providing clear, data-driven financial insights.
  • Participate in special projects, cross-departmental working groups, and process-improvement initiatives to support continuous learning and operational excellence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to interpret financial data, develop reconciliations, and prepare audit-ready schedules.
  • Knowledge of multicurrency, branch, and parent-subsidiary accounting concepts and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify financial risks and propose corrective actions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey complex financial information clearly to non-finance audiences.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and cultures, demonstrating professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 6 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, revenue recognition, and analysis within a complex, donor-funded organization.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Government rules and regulations, including 2 CFR 200, and familiarity with other major donor requirements (e.g., CDC, FCDO, Global Fund).
  • Experience using ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and proficiency in managing financial data and reporting from multiple systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling) and strong command of other Microsoft 365 applications.
