S/he engages directly with donors on programmatic issues. The Senior Officer, Humanitarian Programs consults on operational concerns with other stakeholders within and outside the HA department to design and implement solutions. S/he enhances Global Communities’ emergency response capacity and provides technical advice to support the Department’s humanitarian assistance strategy and new business.

The SPA works closely with various Directors to: procure and distribute project supplies; coordinate travel, meetings, and special events; ensure proper documentation, storage, retrieval & circulation of financial and project records; manage confidential staff and client records; prepare and reconcile project related costs (e.g. purchase orders, travel and mileage reimbursements, project supplies); communicate with vendors, contracted partners, and referral sources; schedule/set up meetings and conference spaces; enter data and provide summary reports for project referrals and enrollments. In support of the Finance Director, the SPA will specifically: ensure expenses and accounts payables are recorded properly in accounting system software (Concur); ensure all accounts payable are documented, recorded, and approved by Program Director(s) and ensure documentation within SharePoint. Provides necessary documentation and seek support to Finance Director when needed.

S/he provides guidance to senior BD leaders around bid operations and processes, and associated improvements in processes and cross-organizational coordination.

The Information Systems & Data Analyst will maintain and implement efficient and effective management information systems (MIS) for Global Communities COVID-19 program activities in San Diego. This position will be leading operations of current systems as well as developing improved monitoring and evaluation systems to track and report program progress. This position is a member of the organization’s Domestic Programs team, based in San Diego, but works primarily in a remote setting.

We support communities at the forefront of their own development in more than 35 countries, partnering with local leaders, governments, civil society and the private sector to achieve a shared vision of a more just, prosperous and equitable global community.    Global Communities is seeking a part-time up to 20 hours per week Perinatal Navigator to join the Healthy Start team at the headquarters in San Diego, California.   The Healthy Start San Diego program is a national initiative to improve perinatal family health, and works to reduce disparities in birth outcomes, with a focus on diverse Black communities in San Diego. Perinatal Navigators independently manage a caseload of clients, providing culturally relevant, client-centered services during pregnancy and early childhood, with a focus on diverse communities, including African-American and Black Immigrant families. Perinatal Navigators outreach, enroll, and provide health education related to pregnancy, childbirth, and infant care, primarily via 1-on-1 visits with families in their home or other locations.   Perinatal Navigators interact with other local programs staff and external partner agencies, exchanging information to ensure optimal health outcomes for clients while ensuring HIPAA compliance. Ideal candidates have experience with childbirth education, doula work, lactation and/or parenting education. Perinatal Navigators will work under direction of the Healthy Start Project Director and will work primarily with families in the field (in San Diego), with additional work from GC’s Murphy Canyon office and some work from home responsibilities.

The Senior Program Officer provides direct support across the project life cycle from start-up and implementation to close-out and is the primary point of contact at Headquarters (HQ) for project information, status, performance, donor requirements, and communication. The Senior Program Officer’s portfolio typically includes projects of significant size, complexity, and/or with higher strategic or risk profiles within the region. The Senior Program Officer assists the Senior Regional Manager on country operations support, data analysis and internal reporting to management. The Senior Program Officer also provides mentorship and coaching to develop the capacity of Program Officers and Program Associates. The Senior Program Officer’s country and project portfolio will be determined based on regional needs and priorities and may shift from time to time based on the evolving nature of the regional program portfolio.

Under the direction of the Program Director and Senior Program Manager, the part-time COVID-19 Outreach Specialist will conduct a range of COVID-19 education activities, including vaccine and testing education and outreach. The COVID-19 Response Program collaborates with the County of San Diego HHSA and other donors to provide residents with wraparound COVID-19 prevention services.   Please note: This is a temporary position working up to 30 hours per week through December 31, 2021.

Our mission is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe.   Global Communities is seeking a Director of Safeguarding to join the Executive Office at the headquarters in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.   The Director, Safeguarding is responsible for the coordinated global program to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all staff, representatives, partners, participants, and anyone with whom Global Communities interacts worldwide, especially children and adults at risk. This includes to protect beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse, to protect Global Communities staff from sexual harassment, and to lead the establishment and continual refinement of Global Communities’ safeguarding approaches across its global programming and work environments. The Director ensures that Global Communities’ Safeguarding Framework is effectively implemented in all Global Communities programs and that safeguarding matters are responded to in a timely, sensitive and effective manner. The Director develops detailed guidance and provides ongoing technical safeguarding support to host country teams and partners to strengthen best practices, tools, and implementation of strategies for safeguarding. The Director abides by the applicable rules, regulations, and donor requirements concerning protection and safeguarding in the unique operating environments in which Global Communities implements programs. Frequent and/or extended travel outside of the United States is possible.   This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Our mission is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe.   Global Communities is seeking a Senior Specialist, Monitoring, Evaluation & Research to join the Measurement & Evidence for Learning & Impact (MELI) team within the Technical Excellence, Learning, Innovation & Impact (TELII) Office.  This position may be based at any Global Communities office.    The position will work in close coordination and collaboration with domestic and globally based staff in Global Communities global offices, including staff working in Country based Programming, and HQ-based Technical Leadership (Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Assistance), Global/Program and Field Operations, Strategic Growth and Partnership, Information Technology Department, Marketing and Communications, other OSIIL staff, and other Departments, as relevant.   The position has two key functions. Firstly, the position is considered an organizational subject matter specialist in the area of design, implementation, and utilization of high-quality and ethical research and will contribute significantly or support efforts to define and advance priorities to strengthen systems, tools, approaches, and capacity in this area. As part of this role, this position serves as the organization’s Administrator for the Institutional Review Board (IRB), which is charged with protecting the welfare, rights, and privacy of human subject’s research conducted by Global Communities and is responsible for reviewing, prior to its initiation, all research (whether funded or not) involving human participants. The IRB Administrator is the person designated by the IRB with expertise and authority to oversee and manage the IRB system and its operations, including working in collaboration with the IRB in the development and maintenance of appropriate policy, procedures, processes, and records. The other key function of this position is to provide MELI-related technical support to new, existing and closing programs, in support of organization-wide aims to improve program quality and impact, ensure accountability to stakeholders, and promote learning.
