The Director of Black Maternal Health (BMH) ensures the achievement of BMH project objectives, and effective, transparent and ethical management of financial and human resources. The Director provides supervision and strategic guidance to the BMH project team; liaises with partners, donors and other government and non-governmental organizations in their region; facilitates the formation of key relationships and partnerships; provides ultimate oversight of financial management systems and approves key budget decisions for the BMH project. They are responsible for supervision of project monitoring and evaluation activities and lead report writing for project funders. Global Communities is seeking part-time, on call Lactation Educators to join the US Programs team in the San Diego, CA Office.
Lactation Educators contribute to a project that fills geographic and language gaps in breastfeeding support for underserved communities in San Diego. Under the direction of the Lactation Program Manager, Lactation Educators will provide basic breastfeeding/lactation information and support to new parents, helping them overcome barriers and to ensure breastfeeding success. They will support the implementation of at least two support groups each month, and answer calls received through a breastfeeding warmline on an as needed basis.

The Program Coordinator coordinates activities for the Community Action Network (CAN), an organized partnership of individuals who unite to collectively apply their knowledge and resources in support of San Diego’s Healthy Start Program. The Healthy Start Program engages program participants and partners in the mission of eliminating disparities in birth outcomes. The Program Coordinator engages and acts as a liaison to a variety of partner agencies, organizes regular meetings and training events, and leads workgroup activities, including a Parent Advisory Committee intended to ensure the voices of Healthy Start participants shape program priorities.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week in a hybrid remote work arrangement.
